Without our trained Advisers, Gateway Assessors and support workers we could not continue to meet the demand for our services.

Training for Advisers and Gateway Assessors

There is a requirement that all volunteer Advisers and Gateway Assessors can commit to volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours per week, this can be 1 full day or 2 half days.

We also ask that you are prepared to stay with us for at least 2 years.

We accept Gateway assessment trainees several times a year and usually ask that you attend an 8 day induction and training course. This is held within the bureau over 2 weeks on Monday-Thursday.

Students

We are often approached by Students, particularly those studying law, who are interested in volunteering. We usually ask that Students complete the same initial training as all other volunteers and try to arrange the course within University vacation.

Other opportunities

Advice Support Workers are valuable members of our team who carry out a number of roles. They meet clients face to face at reception; they complete administrative duties and generally support our Advisers.

We ask for a commitment of at least half a day per week for this role.

We hold regular talks at the bureau for prospective volunteers, where there are opportunities to discover more about what we do and to ask any questions you may have. These are held on the first Friday of each month. We can also send out a pack containing further information about volunteering.
