Are you ready to be a Digital Champion?
Across the country, there are more than 10 million adults who don’t use computers and the internet, and who are missing out on all the opportunities and benefits they can provide. UK Online Centres , including Northampton CAB which has been an active partner since September 2010 , provide an opportunity for those people to access computers and the internet, together with advice and help on how to use them . The overall aim of the scheme is to provide easy access to government and council information, to new or better jobs, to savings and conveniences, and most importantly to each other.
For Northampton CAB it has also offered the opportunity to promote our website "AdviceGuide", which gives information about rights and responsibilities and information on how to sort out the type of problems which CAB are often asked about.
Being a UK Online partner has already broadened the support we are able to offer our clients in Northamptonshire , and from April 2011 this will increase further as Northampton CAB has been selected as one of 51 Community Capacity Builders (CCBs) in the U.K. Our task as CCB is to act as a community hub, working with local partners from all sectors and organisations to build a network of volunteers to help pass IT on. Our aim is to get entire communities using computers and the internet to improve local lives, areas, and services.
