Campaigning for Change


The experience of Citizens Advice Bureaux gives a unique, fresh insight into the problems facing UK citizens. The Citizens Advice service has always provided free, independent advice and used clients’ experiences to influence national and local services and policies. Citizens Advice collects evidence of CAB clients’ problems and uses this to campaign for changes in policies and services. We have a key role in speaking up for clients, raising issues brought into bureaux, contributing to public debate and informing legislation.

We are currently (October-December 2009) involved in the Citizens Advice Fair Welfare campaign, which aims to promote a fair and efficient benefits and tax credits system. At the moment we are collecting information from clients about their experiences, both good and not so good, of Jobcentre Plus back to work support, including work-focused interviews. If you would like your story to count, please call in at the Bureau to pick up a survey form and/or postcard to complete.
